GIS Specialist

We are looking for a detail-oriented and analytical person who is passionate about GIS technology and its application in solving real-world problems.
The GIS Specialist is an experienced technical specialist and integrates a broad base of knowledge in the disciplines of data base management, Global Positioning Systems (GPS), Geographic Information Systems (GIS) theory and practices, GIS application software functions and capabilities, map design and production, computer aided drafting, computer graphics, coordinate geometry, interpreting aerial photography, principles of land surveying and land use management.
This position will work with team members in our Survey, Engineering, and Construction Divisions to lead GIS data acquisition and management.
The ideal candidate will possess the following qualities and skills Field proficient with Trimble equipment.
Must be capable of producing maps with a high degree of accuracy that effectively communicate their purpose.
Must have proven ability to collect and analyze information and translate it into an integrated computer map.
Effective oral and written communication skills with the ability to provide information across multiple groups in the Company.
Strong organizational skills, attention to detail and the ability to work independently.
Key Responsibilities Develops and implements company in GIS technology.
Lead the development of training, standards, and best practices of GIS for the company.
Designs, or coordinates the development of, integrated GIS spatial and non-spatial databases.
Assists with the planning, acquisition, presentation, and storage of GIS data.
Coordinate with members of all company divisions to enhance and streamline existing workflows including but not limited to GIS asset management models, assistance with GIS based water, wastewater, and stormwater models, GIS components of Utility System Mapping, etc.
Assists with remote sensing projects including 3D scanning, aerial photogrammetry (either conventional fixed wing or drone), and bathymetric surveys.
Coordinate with other internal and external teams to execute project scope and schedule as established by the Project Manager.
Designs, develops, and prepares graphic representations of GIS data using GIS hardware or software applications.
Choose cartographic elements necessary for effective presentation of information.
Analyzes GIS data to identify spatial relationships and display results of analyses using maps, graphs, or tabular data.
Uses advanced spatial analysis, data manipulation, or cartography software to perform geospatial data building, modeling, or analysis.
Enters data into GIS database using various techniques including coordinate geometry, keyboard entry of tabular data, manually digitizing maps, scanning or automatic conversion to vectors, or conversion of other sources of digital data.
Reviews the currency, accuracy, usefulness, quality, and completeness of documentation of existing or incoming data.
Provides users or clients with technical support and training related to the maintenance, development, or operation of GIS databases, equipment, or applications.
Assists with design, development and input quality control for databases that are tailored to the client's end use.
Drafts all maps for GIS using AutoCAD or GIS related software.
Aids in developing company GIS standards and provides technical input on all GIS related issues.
Assists with maintenance and upkeep of installed GIS systems.
Keeps informed of changing technology for both hardware and software aspects of the GIS field.
Promotes the success of the team through individual initiative, cooperation to achieve common goals and accommodation to change.

Minimum of two years of experience must include AutoCAD and GIS software.
Computer proficient with knowledge of ArcGIS Pro, ArcMap, Microsoft Office products.
Excellent oral and written communication skills including public/client presentations.
Valid driver's license and able to pass driving record check.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
